It's the end of the day. The dishes are done, the lights are low, and then comes the little voice: "One more story?" You love them, and you are so tired. If that's your house too, this one is for you.
What the story is about
God Made Everything walks through the seven days of creation in Genesis. God speaks light, land, plants, animals, and people into being, and then rests on the seventh day. Along the way, children discover three simple things: God made everything, what He made is good, and people are made in His image.
The memory verse is short enough for even the youngest to learn:
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1)
Why it fits bedtime
Creation is a calm, steady story. It moves from day to day, ends in rest, and tells children that the world they're about to fall asleep in was made on purpose and called good. That's a gentle thing to hear at night.
The Read to me feature narrates every page and highlights each word as it's read, so on the evenings when your voice has nothing left, the story can still be heard. You can sit beside your child and listen together.
Talking about it at home
- Ask a "favorite" question. "What's your favorite thing God made?" Young children often answer with the dog, the moon, or their own toes, and that's a lovely place to start.
- Notice the rest. God rested on the seventh day. You might say, "Even God rested. Now it's our turn to rest too." For a worn-out parent, that may be a good reminder as well.
One story, four ages
Each story is written four ways: Seeds (ages 2–4) "God Made It All," Sprouts (4–6) "Seven Days of Wonder," Branches (6–9) "And God Saw That It Was Good," and Roots (9–12) "Genesis One and the Image of God." That makes it easy when siblings share a bedtime. After the story there are discussion questions, a song, and printable coloring pages for the next day.
Your first book is free. After that, each story is $1.99, and one purchase unlocks all four ages, with no subscription. If you'd like to try another, use code WELCOME10 for 10% off.
