Fernbug is a small, one-person business that makes illustrated Bible story books for children. This site is fernbug.com. Using it, joining the mailing list, taking the free book or joining the membership means you agree to what's written on this page.

The business behind Fernbug is Fernbug.com, in Tennessee, USA. You can always reach a real person through the contact page or, if you have an account, from your requests.

Fernbug is read with one family membership. It opens every story in every age group, every new story as it comes out, and the Bible studies for teens and for parents, on this site and in the app, on any device you sign in on. Books are not sold one at a time.

• It costs $9.99 a month or $79.00 a year, charged when you join and then at the start of each month or year until you cancel. The price is shown before you pay.
• It renews by itself. We email a receipt for every payment. If we ever change the price, we tell you by email before your next renewal, and the new price applies only from then.
• You can cancel any time from Manage billing on the membership page. You keep access until the end of the month or year you have paid for; nothing more is charged after that.
• One membership covers your family: up to 6 readers, on up to 10 devices.
• When a membership ends, the books it opened close. Your reading history, bookmarks and pictures stay on your account in case you come back.

When you make an account you can take one book free: one story, in one age group, with no card. It is one per family, and it is yours to keep whether or not you ever join.

You make an account with your email address: to take the free book, or when you join. You can sign in with a password, or with a one-time link we email you.

Your account is your family's. Please don't share your sign-in link or password outside it — anyone who has it can read everything on it.

Prices are shown on the page before you pay, in US dollars, and that is what you are charged. The amount is worked out on our server, not in your browser, so the number on screen is the real one.

Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Your card details are typed into Stripe's own payment form and go straight to Stripe. We never see, handle or store your card number.

The price on the page is the price you pay. We don't add sales tax, VAT or GST at checkout, and there are no processing fees or surcharges on top — what the button says is what leaves your account.

If that ever has to change, because of where you are or where we become registered to collect, the tax will be worked out and shown to you before you confirm the payment. It will never be added to an order after you've agreed to it, and it will never arrive as a separate bill later.

Access is immediate. The moment Stripe confirms your payment, every book opens on your account and we email you a receipt. You don't have to wait for anything.

If that email doesn't arrive, check your spam folder first, then tell us and we'll resend it.

We want these stories used. Read them at bedtime, teach from them, print the coloring pages for your homeschool table or your Sunday School class — as many copies as the children in front of you need. That is what they're for.

What we ask you not to do:

• Don’t resell the books, the illustrations, the narration or the songs, on their own or as part of something else.
• Don’t republish them publicly — uploading pages, audio or songs to a website, app or social platform as your own content.
• Don’t share your account with people outside your family so they can read the books.
• Don’t strip our name off the work or claim it as yours.

If you want to use a book in a way this doesn't cover — a church-wide license, a curriculum, a conference — just ask. The answer is usually yes.

We use AI tools as part of making these books: Anthropic's Claude helps draft and shape the text, Together AI generates the illustrations, and ElevenLabs produces the read-aloud narration and the songs. Nothing publishes itself. Every book is read, edited and published by hand before it goes near the store.

The books, illustrations, narration, songs and everything else on this site belong to us. The membership (or your free book) gives you the right to read and use them as described above; it doesn't transfer ownership of the work.

The studies for teens and for parents are Bible reflection and encouragement. They are not medical, mental-health, psychological, legal or other professional advice, and they don't replace a doctor, counselor, therapist or pastor.

• We are not a crisis or emergency service. We don’t watch how anyone uses the studies, we don’t read what your family does with them, and we can’t respond to an emergency. If you or your child need urgent help, contact emergency services or a professional directly.
• You, the parent or guardian on the account, are responsible for deciding which studies suit your child, for supervising how your child uses the site and the app, and for your child’s safety and care, including getting professional help when it is needed.
• Some studies touch hard subjects, such as anxiety, grief, self-harm or doubt. Read them first if you are unsure whether one is right for your child.
• To the extent the law allows, Fernbug.com is not responsible for any harm, loss or decision that comes from reading or acting on a study, or from relying on it instead of professional help.

By creating an account, adding a child to it, or opening a study, you agree to this section on behalf of yourself and your children.

We'll do our best to keep the site up and the library available for as long as we reasonably can. We can't promise the site will never be down, that a link will never break, or that the library will never change — books get revised, and occasionally one gets pulled.

If something you paid for stops working or disappears, tell us. We'll fix it or make it right.

Please use the site the way it was meant to be used: don't try to break into other people's accounts, scrape the library, hammer our forms, or get around the checks that decide who can read what. We rate-limit requests and we will close an account that's being used to do any of that.

What we collect, what we don't, and who else touches it is all written out in the privacy policy.

We sell these books as they are. We've made them with real care, but we can't promise a book will suit every child, every classroom or every theological conviction — read the free book and the age guidance before you join.

To the extent the law allows, our responsibility to you for anything connected with a payment is limited to refunding what you paid us for it. We aren't liable for indirect or knock-on losses. Nothing here takes away consumer rights you have by law — where those rights and these terms disagree, your legal rights win.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, in the United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute we can't sort out between us belongs to the state or federal courts sitting in Tennessee, and we both agree those courts may hear it. If you live somewhere whose law gives you the right to bring a claim closer to home, that right stands — this clause is not an attempt to take it away.

If we change something here, we'll update the date at the top of the page. A change never reaches back and alters a payment you already made — the terms that applied when you paid are the terms that apply to that payment.
